U9B Cricket v Great Walstead

27th May 2016

A much changed U9B team played host to Great Walstead on Wednesday afternoon looking to get back into the swing of things after 2 weeks of cancelled matches. Walstead opted to bat first so it was down to our bowling attack to try and limit them to a reachable target. They managed to score a total of 107 runs for a loss of 6 wickets which meant our target was a respectable 77. Wickets: 2 catches by Josh and Christopher, 2 bowled out by Hamish and Josh, 2 run-outs by Rafe and Christopher. Our batting innings was very similar to Walstead’s and we were always in touching distance of the run rate. We had struggled to hit runs in training on Monday so it was great to see the boys playing shots, making runs and getting boundaries. Walstead had very tidy bowlers against our penultimate pair and the runs dried up somewhat leaving our last pair with a huge task of scoring 30 runs to win the match. We managed to take 17 runs from the final 18 balls to finish 13 runs short of the target. So Copthorne ended with a total of 90 runs for a loss of 5 wickets which recalculates to 65 runs. MA Batting figures: Rio (9), Pranav (8), Freddie (5), Christopher (4), Lewis (4), Lucas (3)
