U9B Netball v Great Walstead

6th November 2015

Won 9-1

This week the eight players of the U9B team travelled to Great Walstead to play their Netball match. The squad played very competitively winning 9-1 and having over 75% of the play during the game.

1st quarter – Score 5-0
2nd quarter – Score 6-0
3rd quarter – Score 7-1
4th quarter – Score 9-1

As can be seen from the pattern of the scores above, the girls got off to a flying start with Ellie and Ella scoring 5 good goals. The second quarter was not as successful; as although they had many shots they were rather rushed and therefore lost accuracy. The third and fourth quarters saw the girls consolidate their lead and only allowed Great Walstead to get the ball in their circle on a few occasions.

The team played on a rolling subs basis and none of the girls complained if they had to go off for a quarter or change positions. A true team spirit was shown! The defence of Kirsten, Simi, and Ava stayed solid and they intercepted most of their opponent’s passes before they reached any scoring opportunities. The central players, Lacey, Isabelle and Charlotte, really played well and dominated their areas showing great determination. Great Walstead chose Kirsten as the Copthorne Player of the Match which everyone felt was a very good decision.

Well done girls and as both umpires agreed it was a very good match to umpire.
