Tuesday the 5th of March saw the U9 B rugby team play their away fixture against Penthorpe.

The boys were in high spirits, and this was especially evident in the pre-match warm up.

The match started with a bang as Copthorne ran over their first try within the first 30 seconds. The boys then seemed to get a feeling for the try line and were able to get over another handful of times before the end of the first half.

The half time chat was based on the boys trying to play a more structured game in the second half, with more passing down the line, as well as more work at the breakdown. We were able to get the ball through the hands a few times which was pleasing, and the boys made a concerted effort to be more active at ruck time. Copthorne were able to run the ball over the try line a few more times in the second half as well.

Things to work on for the next game will be going down and securing the ball in contact as opposed to trying passes that are not on. And we will be working on being more aggressive at ruck time.

Well done boys!
