On a very cold winter afternoon, the U9C rugby team came out very enthusiastically to play their match against Handcross. What a game it was!

Copthorne were superb in attack and played well to go 2 tries ahead through Daniel J and Lewis. The lead was lost through 2 tries by Handcross, but the boys bounced back in a great team effort to constantly regain the lead, when Handcross kept equalising.

Half time saw Copthorne lead 7-6, but a few minutes into the second half, the boys were trailing 10-7, after Handcross burst over the try line for quick tries. However, the continual grit and determination of the boys of Copthorne saw them equalise, before regaining the lead when it mattered most – right at the end! At 10-10, it was a try a piece, back and forward before it was 12-12, thanks to two tries by Nathan and Daniel V-H, but right at the end, in the final play, Lewis burst over for his hatrick in the corner to win the game 13-12.

Well done, boys! Thoroughly deserved win!
