We took a squad of 10 athletes to K2 on Friday all with the goal of trying to qualify for the national finals in Birmingham in July. All athletes dug in deep and performed admirably, playing their part in a very exciting day.
Josh Persad – U14 boys 75m hurdles and 100m – Qualified for the nationals in both events
Hugo Hawes – U13 boys high jump – Qualified for the nationals
Alessandro Kroeger – U13 boys 800m – Qualified for the nationals
Josh Persad, Hugo Hawes, Alessandro Kroeger, Ian Haywood – U14 boys 4x100m relay – Qualified for the nationals
Dylan Holland – U12 boys 1500m – 3rd place and a new school record of 5.28:56
Elliot Bayley – U14 boys discus and javelin – 3rd place and a new school record of 24.52m in the discuss and 4th place in the javelin
Michaela Scott – U13 girls shot putt – 3rd place
Harriet Pratt – U12 girls shot putt
Sofia Yousif – U14 girls long jump
Jessica St. John-Dennis – Under 14 girls shot putt and high jump
Congratulations to those who qualified for Birmingham and also those who broke school records; that now makes 21 records broken this term! Athletics is going from the strength to strength at Copthorne and success is breeding more success. Keep it up!
