Under 8 Cricket v Tavistock and Summerhill

Today was the first opportunity for the Under 8 boys to play in a cricket match. They were all very excited and took to the field after winning the toss and electing to have a bowl. Captain Andre K opened the bowling and immediately had the opposition under pressure. There was some good tight bowling backed up by good ground fielding. Tavistock and Summerhill were held to 148 off their 10 overs. Copthorne’s turn to bat and the lads showed a willingness to hit the ball at every opportunity. There was a lot of wayward bowling which made it difficult to score runs off the bat, however there were still some very good shots played by most batsmen. Thomas F hit one nice boundary as did William M. Copthorne ended their 10 overs having scored 167. Final result, Copthorne won by 19 runs.
