With Yonis and Matthew already out this was always going to be a tough encounter and so it proved. Great Walstead were able to field an A and B team so we had a little tournament. There A’s scored right at the start and looked very impressive with good support runners all over the place. We defended valiantly with special mention to Tom who was outstanding. Although the result was never in doubt the boys kept trying and eventually went down 3 tries to 0 against a very good side which was certainly no disgrace. The B’s were also sound but we managed to build a 2 try lead which evaporated in the second half leaving the game tied. There is always something to learn every match and I hope that boys will take away the importance of support running and above all that tackling is simply not an optional activity in rugby. Most made a good attempt but there is still work to do in training.
