Lucy Billingham West has had yet another enjoyable and successful East Grinstead Festival over the past three weekends. Despite large numbers of competitors in her sections and stiff competition, Lucy came second in the nine year classical Ballet section, with a Distinction, at the same time securing a place at the All England Dance Regional Finals next year. She also came third in her Character section. All three groups that she danced in (Ballet, Tap and Greek) have also made it through to the Regional Finals next June. Lucy was also delighted to be awarded the “First Stage Junior Dance Bursary” for the most promising non section winning young Ballet dancer of the competition – a fantastic achievement, which follows last years’ award of the Thomas George Cup for the most promising ballet dancer (section winner) twelve years and under.
Lucy also took part in the Speech and Drama section of the festival over the Bank Holiday weekend, securing first place in Verse Speaking for nine and ten year olds, with a Distinction and coming second in the Prose Reading section (nine and ten years age group) with a Commendation.
