Mixed U11/12 v Brambletye – Lost 11-11½

This was a very close match to end the season and although we lost by half a rounder we won in many different ways.
Our team were first to field and it was clear from the onset that Copthorne were going to field tightly. All the girls were accurate in their throws and catches. Harriet added to her collection of getting players out with three fabulous catches. Our Bowler Alys displayed some excellent bowling only giving away a couple of no balls. Karina, Liliana and Harriet worked well between backstop, 1st and 2nd. By the end of the first innings we had managed to get 6 batters out and Brambletye had only scored 5 rounders.
Our batting was strong and most of the girls managed to score at least ½ rounder. Although by the second innings we were ahead by 2½ Brambletye were determined to catch up. Despite some good fielding they managed to score a couple of full and half rounders. Copthorne knew that they needed to just get 5 rounders to win. Unfortunately several of our players were caught out with some high shots and we were soon whittled down to 4. The girls were cautious and we did lose opportunities to score. Nevertheless the girls played tremendously well as a team and considering they were playing mostly against year 7 I think they did really well .Well done girls. I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching you over the year as you are not only able but you all have a great attitude. I am very proud of you all!  LD
