We have had great fun this week incorporating Chinese New Year into our work. We learnt lots of facts about China and how people celebrate the New Year there with their dragon dances, loud gongs, fireworks and the colour red scaring and sending the imaginary dragon back up the mountain! We all enjoyed being a part of a dancing dragon as you can see from the photo. Look out for our lanterns that are hanging up in the classroom. We tried to use a ruler to draw straight lines and then cut and fold carefully to make our beautiful creations.
We also enjoyed learning about household items from the past…including cassette tapes and mini disks…which made us feel rather old ourselves! A typewriter and dial telephone were good talking points….the fact that you could not walk around with a phone seemed quite strange and amusing to the children! Thank you for taking the time to find and send in the items.
