COINS & FACES

We are busy identifying and counting coins. We use actual coins to give the children a real experience of money. Many of the children find this activity very difficult. The main problem is they think that any two coins, for example a 5p and a 10p make 2p. The concept that one coin can represent many pennies is very hard to grasp. It is an excellent idea to encourage
your child to count the coins in your purse. If they get the amount correct, a few coins as a reward is very motivating!

Our clay faces are now looking very smart. The children have painted the faces to match their hair, eye and skin colours. It is all part of our science topic this term ‘Ourselves’. We are now going to study our senses. The children find their bodies fascinating and are always keen to ask
questions.
