Year 1 News – Week 9

19th November 2016

This week we have been talking about our new project, Light and Dark. We have been looking at different sources of light and telling our friends how amazing the bright fireworks were against the dark sky on bonfire night. Mrs Lock brought in her wonderful selection of lanterns for us to study and then we did some beautiful paintings of lanterns using shiny metallic paint.

In maths we have been using number bonds for 5, 6 and 10 to answer number sentences. We have used a number balancing tool on the Interactive White Board to see if our number sentence will balance with the answer. We also discovered that the opposing sides of a dice make 7! Perhaps you could look at a die at home and check if we got it right!
