We have enjoyed our new RWI groups this week and have learnt many new sounds which we are trying to use in our independent writing. In maths, we are learning pairs of numbers that add together to make 7. We have practised a dice trick, where we can tell you the hidden number of the bottom of the dice without looking. (Because the top and bottom of a dice always add up to 7!).
We have been practising writing number sentences e.g. 2 + 5 = 7 too. Because we are now getting very quick at learning pairs of numbers we have also used them to help us subtract. E.g. 7 -2 = 5 or 7- 5 = 2 In art we have looked at the work by Picasso and had great fun using different shapes and colours to create a portrait.
In science, we have been using our senses to investigate items. We used our sense of smell to find out what was hidden in a pot. We sniffed out vinegar, mint, lavender, cloves and of course we all guessed… chocolate, correctly!
