Looking back.

As the children in Year 2 are starting their last half term in the Pre-Prep, they have begun to look back on their time here and think about the successes and challenges that they have experienced throughout the year. As the teachers are writing their end of year reports, the children were also asked to do the same task as part of our on-going work on self-assessment and independent target setting. It has been great fun reminiscing about all of the topics and projects that we have enjoyed. Each child had to think carefully about which subjects they liked best and why. They also had to think about which areas of their learning were trickiest for them and why. As you can see from the anonymous quotes below, the Copthorne children are really reflective learners:

I like piano most of all because I learn a skill that most people cannot do.

My favourite subject is swimming because I love jumping in.
I love the Big Write because I get to make up my own funny stories.
I like mental maths because I like learning times tables. I know 7 times tables now!
My favourite subject is Science because it is fascinating and its challenging!
I find tennis tricky because it is hard to hit the ball. Swimming is tricky because it is hard to get the breathing right.
I absolutely love all of the outdoor sports clubs. The games and stuff are great and the coaches are amazing!
My favourite subject is Chess because I am great!

This morning, the children had an amazing morning of outdoor maths in the Prep school. The Year 2 and Year 3 children worked fantastically well together to develop their team work as well as their maths skills. A big thanks to Mrs Toovey for arranging such fun and interactive learning.
