The artist Turner

Year 2 have been looking at the artist Turner and in particular his painting Rain, Steam, and Speed of Brunel’s Maidenhead bridge. We have discovered: He never married, but his father lived with him for 30 years, sometimes working as his assistant. Legend has it that he had himself tied to the mast of a ship during a storm so he could experience the power of the sea first hand. His friends called him William. He gave some of his paintings really long titles in order explain them – one was even 31 words long!

We are really looking forward to our visit to Amberley museum and finding out more fun facts about great engineering inventions.
