Year 2

We have had a busy week as we begin our new topic. We have begun to find out why the Great Fire of London was so devasting, and why the fire was able to spread as quickly as it did. In our literacy lesson we used adjectives, nouns, adverbs and verbs to write a short poem about Fire and then performed our poem to the rest of our class. Year 2OS had their science lesson this week and learnt about reversible and irreversible changes, cooking eggs and melting chocolate, predicting which materials would be reversible and irreversible. Great fun was had eating the cooked egg and decorating and eating our chocolate coated biscuit! Year 2DP will be cooking eggs and melting chocolate next week. In maths we have been investigating which whole numbers we can halve and double and have begun to learn about fractions, looking at halves, quarters and thirds. This can be a tricky concept so your support to consolidate this understanding at home would be greatly appreciated. During Forest School, 2 DP, we built, lit and maintained our very own fires!
