Year 2 Autumn Term News

11th December 2019

The new topic on ‘Celebrations’ has been greeted with great enthusiasm! After discussing our favourite celebrations, we sequenced the events of the Gunpowder Plot and found out why it is traditional to have fireworks and a bonfire every year on November 5th. We enjoyed the children’s discussion on parliament and their ideas on what may happen there! They then wrote newspaper articles about the event, including connectives to extend their sentences. During RE we have started comparing festivals celebrated by different religions whilst science focused on keeping safe using medicines.

We have made a good start to rehearsing for our nativity and would

like to thank the parents who have already supported their children in

learning all their lines.

We are expanding to GCSE!

Parents have told us they need a quality senior school alternative, so from September 2021, pupils already at Copthorne or joining in Year 7 will be able to stay with us to Year 11. Our first GCSE exams will take place in 2026.

Join us at our next Virtual Open Morning or read about our expansion to find out more.
