Year 2 News – Spring Term 2017 – Week 5

10th February 2017

The children have been investigating 3D shapes this week; counting faces and vertices. We have created tables to record our results to find the coldest place in the school … not surprisingly it was outside in the courtyard! The children predicted how long the ice would take to melt and were surprised it took 4 hours, even in the boiler cupboard! We experimented with freezing a variety of materials : olive oil, tomato sauce and golden syrup … the olive oil was the biggest surprise – it was solidly frozen and a bright yellow/green!

Thank you for all your efforts at home discussing the Big Write with your children. We have been thoroughly impressed with the children’s descriptions and they have used a wide variety of adjectives. Some have even used similes!
