Year 2 News – Summer Term 2017 – Week 6

30th May 2017

Copthorne PrePrep - Year 2 - Releasing the Butterflies - May 2017The caterpillars have caused great excitement this week. After looking at the amazing transformation into chrysalides for a week, we now have beautiful butterflies! We were worried that we might not have been able to release them before half term, but this hot weather has sped up their life cycle. The butterflies that have hatched can return to their natural habitat.

In maths we have been looking at halves and quarters of both shapes and numbers. Did you know that if you halve a number, then halve it again we can find one quarter of the number?
This glorious weather has inspired our Big Write this week with a ‘trip’ to the seaside. We found a magic key which transported us back in time! The children have remembered lots of historical facts and also included great adjectives and verbs to make our stories sound interesting for the reader.

We love role-play in Year 2. Can you spot Jerome, the angry garden gnome. We had fun writing our own scripts.
