Last Saturday, 7 Year 4 boys made the short trip up to Crawley for an invitation rugby match and training session. The boys all took part in some tackling drills, rugby netball and a session on the tackle bags. The boys were also invited to play against the Crawley under 9’s team who have been very successful this season. Despite missing two of our usual ‘A’ team players, the boys put in a great performance to lose narrowly 6-4.

Before the boys did the guard of honour for the 1st XV match, they were treated to some food and a talk from the club President. They were all also given a gift of a mini rugby ball and chocolate! The day was rounded off by the boys welcoming the Crawley team and the referee onto the pitch. The behaviour of the boys was impeccable throughout the day and represented Copthorne fantastically. Hopefully the boys were able to see why we work hard during the games sessions and also to see a possible way into club sport outside school.

Overall a great day and the boys were a credit to   the school.
