U8 Netball v Brambletye – Won 5-1

The girls U8 netball team took on Brambletye this week playing in their first ever netball match. It was also Brambletye’s first match so we took this opportunity to have a training match, giving warnings for footwork, offside, contact and distance from the ball.

This week our captains were Charlotte Radley and Sophie Gillam, who got off to a good start by winning the toss and choosing to have the first centre pass! Once the girls were all onside play began. Copthorne got off to a fantastic start making good passes and getting the ball into the circle, after the first centre pass our first goal was scored by Sophie Gillam. as play continued the girls continued to pass well in attack and make good interceptions in defence. At the end of the first half the score was 3-1 to Copthorne.

In the second half the girls continued to impress. We had some lovely interceptions from Ella Devine at GK and Deba Osague at GD and Ella Cavedaschi moved well and got herself into good space. Charlotte Radley played well throughout and linked the ball nicely up and down the court. Special mention goes to Sophie Gillam and Katherine Munro who worked well in the circle together with Sophie scoring all 5 goals.

A massive congratulations to all the girls who played, it was a very exciting first game and a good win. Thank you to all the supporters who came to watch encouraging on the team.

Well done!
