Last Friday we entered 25 pupils in to the Sussex Prep School Athletics County Championships at K2, Crawley which also acts as the qualifying stage for the National Championships. We have had much success over the last 6 years so hopes were high for earning a “place on the bus” to Birmingham.

A comprehensive list of results will be published as soon as I have them but as you can appreciate with up to 30 schools in attendance there are a lot of results for the organisers to enter.

I can confirm that we had multiple appearances in the finals having successfully negotiated the heats and school records were broken by Katie (1500m), Eva (300m), Y6 and Y7 Boys’ relay teams and Jemima (Javelin and Discus). Medal placings were awarded to Katie (bronze), Gabi (silver), Austin (silver), Ewan (gold) and Jemima (2x gold) with those gold and silver medalists earning qualification to the National Finals.

Although it those who won medals who will get the plaudits I can not express how proud I am of all 25 athletes for their efforts in training and performances in competition this season. We really are a force to be reckoned with in athletics and next year we will return even stronger than ever.
