On top of the Dune!

Still no sun in the sky but no rain and the forecast is much better with even some sunshine this afternoon. Maybe the big, big, cheese does have some influence after all!

Wakey, wakey call is promising bacon and eggs for the first children in the breakfast queue. Wise Donald knows that is not true, or is it …..

… there was no bacon and eggs for breakfast! Children all gathering ready for the big sail – Pico’s or Dart’s. But, it is not raining and the sun is trying to come out. The children may actually need suncream today.

The new look!

Donald has been sailing! Not the Teignmouth Electron ( clue to why Donald), but a Dart! With a crew containing all the “bigger boys” Donald, AA, KS and AM we carried a combined weight of almost 250kgs so we were never going to catch the BB, SS, JH boat with a combined weight of about 90kg soaking wet!

Joking aside BB has obviously sailed before and captained his crew very well – he did all the steering himself. Donald’s crew seemed drunk by comparison which in Donald’s case was definitely not true. Perhaps AA and AM had been on the wine gums!

RK fell off – well fell off does not really do it justice as she performed a graceful back somersault off the boat as Miss Penn turned the boat. Some say she was pushed but Donald has conducted a full scale inquiry and neither AG or IS saw anything.

The other group sailing Pico’s report that EC spent more time in the water than on the water and JA was instrumental in capsizing others which does not sound like the JA Donald thought he knew!

The French Affair gives the children the opportunity to try escargot, frogs legs and mussels! Some tried everything – others didn’t! The main course was beef Bourguignon – very nice!

Off to the Dune de Pyla now, about an hour in the coach!

Rockley Dan to the rescue! Having been advised to leave mobile phones at home by Donald before we left and then told by Dan the Rockley man to leave them on the coach, one Copthorne child got to the bottom to discover they had lost their phone!

How do you find a phone in the biggest sand dune in Europe, particularly when you only have a 5 minute window.

Dan the Rockley man sent all bar 4 children back with Henry, Mrs D and Miss P, whilst Dan, Donald, BC, KC, JAB and SS started looking. JAB was constantly dialling the number but nothing was heard. With seconds to go before we had to leave, it was found by hero Dan, so we had a very relieved Karan!!!

Very loud and giggly girls behind us. LG/RK/ JC voices identified. Donald can feel a headache coming on!!!
