Recent external scholarship results have once again confirmed that Copthorne has an enviable reputation for academic excellence and all-round achievement. Further results from Worth, Hurstpierpoint and Ardingly will be received soon, but we are well on the way to maintaining our very impressive record of over 50% of our Year 8 leavers receiving a scholarship of some sort, and all getting into their first choice senior school! Happy Birthday Your Majesty!

The whole Pre-Prep & Nursery enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea on Thursday, with cucumber sandwiches and orange drizzle cakes in the courtyard in celebration of the Queen’s Birthday. (The Queen was also eating orange drizzle cake for her birthday – courtesy of 2015 British Bake-Off winner, Nadiya... 

Victorian Timeline 

Congratulations to Rafe C who has produced a wonderful Victorian era timeline that starts with the invention of Morse Code in 1836 and Queen Victoria being crowned in 1837 aged 18, and runs through to 1901 when she died (on January 22nd after 63 years on the throne). This week Reception has had a really buzzy week. We’ve been looking at minibeasts that hum and buzz in particular. We’ve learned all about bees and why they are so important to us and enjoyed making our own honey sandwiches. In literacy we learned all about similes and wrote our own wonderful similes...
