Our Colts teams enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of football as we hosted our friends from Skippers Hill, in excellent playing conditions.
A particular highlight was the style of football on display from Copthorne. Skippers Hill were complimentary about our commitment to playing out from the back and building attacks through possession, with all teams showing confidence and composure on the ball. It was pleasing to see the players putting into practice the principles we work on in training and attempting to play the game in the right way.
All three teams demonstrated tremendous effort, determination and sportsmanship throughout. The boys showed great character, never giving up and continuing to work hard for one another until the final whistle. Skippers Hill edged all three fixtures on the day – 4-2, 3-0 and 2-0 – but there was a great deal for the coaches to be pleased with, and the Colts A in particular gave their opponents a real contest.
We were also delighted by the wonderful support from our parents, whose encouragement from the touchline helped create such a positive atmosphere throughout the afternoon. Their support is greatly appreciated by all the players and staff.
Most importantly, the afternoon was played in an excellent spirit, with both schools enjoying a competitive yet friendly fixture programme. It was a fun and enjoyable occasion for all involved, and we thank Skippers Hill for coming across. We look forward to meeting them again soon.
