Ensuring that our pupils have the skills and knowledge to thrive in a fast-changing world, alongside a first class academic education, is one of our core priorities.

Overview

Our Global curriculum adopts an enquiry led approach to learning so that our pupils can explore and apply knowledge and skills in context to real life situations, giving them a better understanding of their place in the world.

Our Global Curriculum Pathway takes children from as early as Nursery through to Year 6. By adopting an enquiry led approach, that integrates traditional subjects such as science, humanities, art and DT, two modern European languages and music into cohesive interrelated topics, children can explore and apply knowledge and skills effectively across various contexts.

This interdisciplinary curriculum is focused on a central question each term, which allows children to foster a deeper understanding by making links and connections within the chosen topic. Our Global curriculum encourages natural curiosity, a problem-solving mindset, and builds confidence with the aim to develop well-rounded, inquisitive learners equipped to navigate an ever-changing world.

The curriculum also provides opportunities for children to learn and develop their research, planning and presentation skills,  culminating in a final Year 6 project IPQ qualification which is assessed externally by the ISEB.

Our Global termly question can range from our Year 4s deep diving into ‘Is space the final frontier?’ whilst Year 1 children are exploring ‘What makes a hero super?’. Further up the school, the Global themes can encompass philosophical questions such as, ‘Why do we have wars?’ or ‘What makes a great leader?’, encouraging pupils to develop critical thinking, empathy, debate skills, ethical reasoning, and a deeper understanding of historical, cultural and social contexts.
