Exploring Belonging in Art: ‘This is my Place’ 13th February 2026 Creative Arts This week in Art, children across the school have been taking part in a special creative project linked to this year’s theme for Children’s Mental Health Week: Belonging. Their task was simple yet meaningful—to create a picture about where they feel a sense of belonging. Each year group approached the theme in its own unique way. Some classes experimented with collage, layering textures and materials to represent the people and places that make them feel at home. Others used paint, exploring colour to capture the emotions connected with their special spaces. One year group developed their ideas through lively doodles and line art, bringing a playful and expressive twist to the theme. Throughout the lessons, pupils spent time reflecting on what makes them feel safe, happy, and connected—whether it was a favourite room at home, taking part in activities they love, being with family, or simply sharing moments with friends. Their artwork beautifully highlights the many different ways we all find our own place in the world. The sense of pride and enjoyment was clear in every lesson—both as the children created their artwork and when they shared their pieces with one another. Their creativity has filled our school with warmth, colour, and a deep reminder of the importance of belonging.
