Podium at Prestigious Primary Cup Chess Finals

Copthorne Prep delivered an outstanding performance at the Primary Cup Chess Finals, finishing as runners-up in Division 2 in what was a highly competitive and prestigious event.

With a total of seven divisions in the tournament, this result places the team firmly towards the upper end of the overall standings – a fantastic achievement that reflects both the standard of play and the commitment of our pupils. Competing against strong schools from across the region, the team showed resilience, focus and impressive tactical awareness throughout the day.

Representing Copthorne was a talented squad of Nickolas, Narayan, Harrish and Vadannya, who demonstrated excellent teamwork and sportsmanship alongside their individual skill. Each player contributed to the team’s success, handling the pressure of match play superbly and showing great determination in every round.

The pupils’ ability to think strategically, remain composed under pressure and support one another was evident throughout the competition. Their success is a testament not only to their hard work and preparation, but also to their enthusiasm for the game.

We are incredibly proud of the team’s achievement in finishing runners-up in Division 2, and they should be commended for representing the school with such distinction. This result highlights the continued strength of chess at Copthorne Prep and bodes well for future competitions.

Well done to all involved!
