Shrek Jr Cast Take Centre Stage!

The curtain has closed on our final performance of Shrek Jr and we could not be prouder of our Year 5 and 6 cast.

At its heart, Shrek is a story about belonging – about discovering that what makes us different is often what makes us strongest, and that with courage, kindness and a little bit of teamwork, we can all find our place in the world. From swamps to castles and everything in between, it may not be your traditional fairy tale, but then again, at Copthorne, we rather like doing things in our own unique and wonderful way! I cannot think of a more perfect musical to have performed here in a school where diversity, individuality and community are proudly celebrated.

Putting on a production is a rollercoaster, and we have thoroughly enjoyed the ride! At Copthorne, we encourage children to be curious, courageous and creative, and this production was a perfect example of that spirit in action. The cast embraced every challenge with energy, resilience and enthusiasm. Whilst many familiar fairy tale characters took centre stage, this show was truly a shared achievement. Every performer, whether leading the story or helping to build the world around it, played an essential role in bringing Duloc, the swamp and this wonderfully quirky tale to life. We are so proud of the children for their dedication, energy, and ability to rise to the challenge of putting on a spectacle!

Equally important were the many helping hands behind the scenes. From costumes and set to lighting and sound, this production simply would not have been possible without the dedication, creativity and teamwork of those working out of the spotlight.  Well done to everyone involved!
