We are delighted to share that Nikolas, our Head Boy, has won the Southeast England Sumdog Maths competition!
Competing against pupils from across the region, Nikolas showed real determination and focus throughout the week. He admits he kept a close eye on the leaderboard, checking regularly to make sure he stayed in the lead.
When asked what kept him motivated, Nikolas said that seeing his friends and fellow pupils high on the leaderboard spurred him on to work even harder. Knowing that other strong mathematicians were close behind gave him the extra push he needed to stay at the top.
At Copthorne, we believe there is great value in healthy competition. It encourages pupils to challenge themselves, strive for excellence and take pride in their achievements, while respecting and celebrating the success of others. Nikolas’ victory is a wonderful example of this spirit in action, and we look forward to giving him the huge round of applause he deserves when we celebrate his achievement in assembly.
Congratulations, Nikolas, and well done to all our pupils who engage so enthusiastically with Sumdog!
