Trucks, Mud and Farmyard Nursery Fun! 13th March 2026 Nursery This week in Butterflies we have been reading the story Duck in the Truck. The children have been enjoying talking about trucks, mud, and farm animals from the story. To bring the story to life, the children explored a sensory tuff tray using chocolate rice pudding and chocolate custard to represent the muddy ground where the duck got stuck. Some of the children even had a little taste (it was very yummy!) before they had great fun driving the trucks through the “mud”. They made lots of tracks and talked about what happened in the story. After their muddy play, the children helped to wash the trucks in soapy water, showing great teamwork and care for the toys. We have also been busy with creative activities, painting frogs and making sheep pictures using cotton wool, linking to the farm animals from our story. The children have really enjoyed exploring the story through sensory play, art, and discussion this week.
