Huff, Puff… and a Whole Lot of Applause!

What a joyful, spirited, and thoroughly entertaining show our Year 3 and 4 children treated us to this week with their performance of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes: Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. From start to finish, they brought Dahl’s playful twists to life with confidence, humour, and a wonderful sense of togetherness.

Even before the first line was spoken, they had us completely captivated. I was so impressed by the confidence with which each child stepped onto the stage – performing in front of a full audience is no small task, yet they embraced it with such poise and bravery. Their acting was full of character and imagination: wonderfully expressive wolves, delightfully cheeky pigs, and some impressively bold Little Red Riding Hoods who absolutely stole the spotlight.

As Miss Stone often reminds us, there is no such thing as a small part. Every child played their role with commitment, and every animal on stage contributed to the magic of the performance. Their engagement was evident in every moment – whether delivering lines, singing with enthusiasm, or supporting one another quietly and confidently behind the scenes.

These moments remind me exactly why the arts hold such an important place in school life. They nurture creativity, build confidence, strengthen friendships, and give children the opportunity to shine in ways that truly matter. Watching our pupils this week was a wonderful reminder of just how capable, courageous, and full of potential they are when given the chance.
