Year 1 Get to Grips with Money 26th June 2026 Pre-prep Year 1 have been exploring the exciting topic of money! The children have been learning to recognise and identify different coins and notes, building confidence in naming their values. We have also been looking closely at the similarities and differences between coins, discussing features such as size, shape, colour, and value. This has helped the children to understand how money is organised and used in everyday life. As their understanding has grown, the children have started to combine coins to calculate simple amounts of money. They have enjoyed practical activities such as role play, problem solving, and real life scenarios to practise these skills.
