Message from the Head

30th November 2020

Dear Parents,

Having spoken to many Year 6 parents this week, both Mr Close and I are encouraged by the positive response we are hearing about Copthorne to 16 (GCSE). We are working hard behind the scenes to provide more details of our exciting 16+ offer, in terms of strategic building plans and GCSE options. More details will be available soon after Christmas, but I am happy to share my thoughts with anyone interested before then.

The Parents’ Evening software is working well, apart from the rather brutal automatic cut off at the end of the allocated time slot. A reminder to parents with children in 5HH that their meeting is on Tuesday from 6.00pm. Year 7 & 8 evenings are scheduled next term, together with another session planned for Year 3 & 4 parents.

The traditional Carol Service, usually a highlight of the term, is going to be filmed this year, with the link being sent to parents so they can view it during the evening of Tuesday 15th December. The children will all have the opportunity to watch it during that day.

Both the Reception and Year 1 & 2 Nativity Plays are also being filmed in socially distanced sections and then edited together into mini films for mailing to parents; while Nursery Christmas Fun will be extracts from their Christmas Fun Day on Tuesday 15th December.

Save the Children ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ is on Friday 11th December. Children may wear a Christmas jumper and bring in £2 which will donated to the charity.

Have a nice weekend! Chris Jones

We are expanding to GCSE!

Parents have told us they need a quality senior school alternative, so from September 2021, pupils already at Copthorne or joining in Year 7 will be able to stay with us to Year 11. Our first GCSE exams will take place in 2026.

Join us at our next Virtual Open Morning or read about our expansion to find out more.
